You have to be in it to win it! Although odds are you still won't.
Again, I squeak in another issue. Another homepage parody tossed in the backwash section.
Well, after a hot streak of 3 in a row, I missed the 40th anniversary issue. Then I just barely made it into the next one, this.
Cracked took a bunch of my goofy movie titles and turned them into something just as goofy. I was always playing around with the idea of first drafts of movies, and pitched them the idea of movie pitches.
Once I finally made contact with Cracked I had a pretty decent run with them. I was published in the next issue of Cracked, Jan '98, with a follow up of my Upside/Downside series. It was my one and only recurring series. Which the book "If You're Cracked You're Happy" totally ignored.
So, there I was, minding my own business when 25 years later The Plague contacts me about submitting something to their anniversary issue. Imagine that! And they actually kept the "NYU's Only Intentionally Funny Publication" tagline.
Issue 62 is here...
...And, no, I don't know what this cover is about either.
It was interesting. They had a party. The founding editor, Howard, showed up. I met the new guys. It was nice. A fitting farewell. Unless they call me for the 50th anniversary...
Freelance writer, still hacking away.
