Anyway, to remind everyone, TMI: Daily is on the TMI: Hollywood Facebook Page weeknights at 6pm on (Hollywood time). And here's my contributions for last week:
It's was a week of ups & downs (and not just GameStop stock). I got nothing in a couple of nights, then a couple on other nights. I went back on forth about claiming credit on the Covfefe, but the set-up was mine and my punchline, which mentioned bigly, Nambia and covfeve, was whittled down. Even the first joke ("we're all to blame") as well. The logic was there, but the punch line was rewritten to a phrase that the producer keeps using but is the same logic as my original punchline about Biden winning. Then there was the show of the 26th; the show used a lot of music on it (voting on the best one-hit wonder song) that Facebook removed the show from the timeline for copyright issues. I had to grab the audio of the show from the podcast version and insert that. A productive week, overall. Someday I'll get back on the main show, but it's a tricky time for me on the east coast. They're getting back into their groove. Me as well. I got a decent number of jokes in (a few rewordings here, a few lengthy set-ups there; so I can toot my own horn here). Despite Trump's exit, there's so much residual stuff to mock, which I'm happy to do. California is in the process of lifting their shelter at home order. I don't know how that will affect performers yet, but the TMI Troupe has really gotten into producing these shows, so we'll see what happens once theaters are open. But, based on CA's ICU capacity (0% as of this moment) I can't see things changing too much. You'll have to go to TMI: Hollywood's FB page to see all the topics covered, so... ...to remind you, TMI: Daily is on the TMI: Hollywood Facebook Page weeknights at 6pm on (Hollywood time). And here's my contributions for last week: Posting late this week. After taking off for the holidays, TMI: Hollywood slowly geared up by producing the TMI: Wrap as a stand-alone feature. It was a short week, and I had a spotty success rate on my submissions. The Biden impeachment joke is essentially mine; the set-up, and the spirit of the punchline, though re-worded. They had to use a couple of different hosts for the bit as schedules differed for the week. But, all in all, a solid start to a new year! Now to remind you, TMI: Daily is on the TMI: Hollywood Facebook Page weeknights at 6pm on (Hollywood time). And here's my contributions for last week:
From 1999 to 2004-ish, I was one of the contributing writers for Garrison Keillor's renowned radio show "A Prairie Home Companion." I learned a lot of things there, mostly how to spell 'prairie." It was a solid gig and I'm proud of my work there. But, like any other job, there were...things...
I've forgotten what an overhaul this sketch had gotten from my submission. The show was since on its road trip and was doing the show from Hawaii. I broke the cardinal rule of writing for PHC, doing TV references. And that little bit of the bit is simply a set up to the main part of the sketch, a SFX skit about coconuts, which I had totally forgotten about. So, Garrison actually took my premise that the FCC requires all broadcast shows to do episodes from Hawaii, and swapped out my TV references (Brady Bunch, Sanford and Son) with other dated TV references like Mr. Ed, Gomer Pyle, Ed Sullivan...and Arthur Godfrey.). Obviously, they turned it into a bit that showcased Tim Russell vocal talents. Some of my references (I Love Lucy, Elvis) got in but vastly reworked. I guess because of that, I got no on air or online credit for the bit. But the SFX half is a pretty good, silly premise with the usual type of SFX antics. Sorry that didn't make it in.
The full show ishere. I put the broadcast version of the sketch below. The Hawaiian Rule |
