Yeah, not so much. Granted, my contributions to the site started to wane as the year progressed but I was very much surprised to find out the site no longer exists. It's just a Go Daddy placeholder denoting the domain name is available. Gone, all gone. So, I'm going to drag them out and post them here from time to time. So, let us present:
Store packaging!
We know chips and cereal are sold by "weight, not volume" so we get used to big bags and boxes with just a little bit of stuff in them. Now they started to shrink the wrap. And I'm paying the same amount for less!
Oreos used to be the size of a drink coaster. Seriously! Have you seen an Oreo cookie lately? Maybe under a microscope (get it? Because they're so small now!)! And now the package you buy them in is smaller. I know this for a fact. When they started selling the cookies in cellophane instead of boxes, the cookies would go stale because of the crappy "stay fresh" seals, so I had to start putting the cookie package into a re-sealable plastic storage bag. And they didn't fit. I had to cut off some of the plastic tray to get them in. Now, the cookie package slides right into the storage bag. This is doubly worse because plastic storage bags have been shrinking as well! Don't get me started on Chip Ahoy cookies.
Ever hear of Ring Dings? They're a snack cake. Like Drake's Coffee Cakes, they used to be sold one to a package. They were the size of a moon pie (look it up). Then one day they introduce the Ring Ding Jr. and Coffee Cake Jr. Two smaller cakes wrapped together and sold. Once they got us used to the smaller version, they discontinued the Ring Ding Sr. and then changed the name of Ring Ding Jr. to just Ring Dings. Then the price started creeping up. So typical.
Now we're seeing "family size" packs coming out and that's what the "normal size" pack used to be and they're charging crazy amounts for it. All I want is a normal sized cookie for dessert!
Thanks Obamacare!
