This issue was the Adventure Issue, so I pulled out this story. It had been written during one of my Sherlock Holmes phases, where I was reading every Sherlock story out there, including some fairly lame ones.
The magazine had gotten a new influx of talent, and our art improved considerably. But our ability to typeset was still lacking. Things were still be typed on a typewriter. So every written page looks the same. Making parodies of other publications problematic.
The comedy stylings were starting to...go in a different direction, as it were.
