There were longer gaps now between my appearances in the magazine and there would be longer gaps between issues of the magazine itself now.
The editor wrote a note on the masthead announcing the great bits in the magazine. They were touting a reprint from just the previous year along with one from the 1960s. It was a clumsy mix of old and new, but the guy was really being backed into a corner, finance wise.

And the slide continues. Stuff gets heavily re-written (embellished) after you submit it (I still don't know what a bronsky is). Payments become random. And lower. The veteran creators were starting to drift off. So the magazine tried to make up the gap with reprints from older (sometimes much older) issues. They were using more and more material from older issues and reprinting it. Which must have been difficult, since all the original art work was destroyed by the anthrax attack the American Media (the parent corporation) offices. Google that, it was right after 9/11.
