Christmas Carol
A housewife is picked to produce the annual church Christmas pageant. As the show comes together, she comes apart, alienating her cast, friends and family. Must the show go on?
Christmas is coming; the commercials are playing, the TV specials are airing and the church pageant is being planned. But Mrs. Reuter has passed on (God rest her soul) and someone else must volunteer to "produce" the Christmas pageant. Carol Minelli has never much cared for the pageant; it's a dull lifeless thing to her. But she is such a big fan of the holiday she decides to do it as a chance to show them how it's done. But as the show comes together, everything else comes apart. The budget gets cut. She has to battle the parish matriarch and is forced to pick the matriarch's granddaughter for the lead over her own talented daughter. Egos clash. Tensions arise among the families of the players, to the point where Carol is alienating her teen kids and the cast, leading up to a walk-out on opening night. Can Carol find the true spirit of Christmas after trying to stage a play about the spirit of Christmas? That's what "Christmas Carol" is about.
