Anyway, to remind everyone, TMI: Daily is on the TMI: Hollywood Facebook Page weeknights at 6pm on (Hollywood time). And here's my contributions for last week:

No two ways about it, it was a tough week for me on TMI. Only two jokes last week. Maybe they used a couple of my topics, but the punchlines weren't even close to my take, so I'm not going to include them. I've been devoting a hour a day to this (from my day job), so I can't be all prescious about it and I really am just pounding out items. I will admit that I'm adding in my tweets, but, frankly, I've been using Twitter as a joke-creation system, using the topics that come up there as a spark for something. I do now write many of my tweets with an eye toward recycling them on TMI...so if you want to get a sneak preview, go check out @DanFiorella on Twitter. Couldn't hurt. Anyway, to remind everyone, TMI: Daily is on the TMI: Hollywood Facebook Page weeknights at 6pm on (Hollywood time). And here's my contributions for last week:

It was a pretty good week for me. Again, a bunch of jokes, but re-worded punchlines. When I use the phrase "body count-wise" it wasn't on accident, yet it gets re-worded into a much longer, less clever sentence. Or use a sledge hammer on the RBG line. But, it's nice to vent my frustrations about current events and have an outlet for my snark. Anyway, you can watch TMI: Daily on Facebook, (the TMI: Hollywood page) weeknights at 6pm on (Hollywood time) or catch it as a podcast. Enjoy! Had to battle a format change and a new host, as the full TMI: Daily took a break last week and just went forward with the monologue, now christened TMI Daily Wrap Up. I got a couple of re-worked jokes in, but the new guy tried really hard to make it his own. The Oscar joke was edited...the set up was mind, the long winded punch-line wasn't, but the "#OscarsSoWoke" button was mine, so I adjusted it. Anyway, you can watch TMI: Daily on Facebook, back on, weeknights at 6pm on (Hollywood time) or catch it as a podcast. Enjoy! Another slow week for me, only a few jokes were used. Plus, I forgot to post it after I edited it! I should note that it was a short week (no show Friday), but disappointing. I thought I had a couple of sharp lines but they did get used. Oh well, off to Twitter with them, then! Anyway, you can watch TMI: Daily on Facebook, weeknights at 6pm on (Hollywood time) or catch it as a podcast. Enjoy! In the midst of this pandemic and quarantine, a group of brave comic actors are pulling together to produce comedy! TMI:Hollywood, the LA comedy troupe and producers of TMI Minute are producing a live webcast featuring a monologue and various cast members and crew (and the occasional East Coast writer...me) to discuss the topics of the day. They started March 25th and I just figured out how to download FB videos and edit my jokes together! So, if you haven't see them online at Facebook, here's a sampler of my material, then tune in on their FB page at 1 pm PST. Stay well! Between their schedule and mine, it took two months to piece together enough for a minute. I missed a couple of weeks submitting. I was away, I forgot the deadline and one week...I just didn't feel like it. >Whine alert< I've been submitting material to these guys for ages. Most skits get overlooked, but my acceptance rate for these videos has been decent. But, there are sometimes I'm distracted by things, like, say, a paying gig, or an opportunity to write a script for an actress to get produced, that tends to pull me away from the troupe. And the fact that I'm on the other side of the country from them doesn't help, I'm sure... Wow, after a slow start, I scored quite a number of jokes in the TMI Hollywood videos in the last 4 weeks. They only did a couple of videos in January. None in February, then they settled down in March to a more standardized production schedule and I managed to get jokes in 3 of the four weeks they posted, even the special "College Emission Scandal Edition." Some of my jokes even survived punchline rewrite: They were still basically a variation on my version, so I included them here. In the past, I've skipped those kind of rewrites. I can usually tell when they've used one of my premises or set-ups, then I've seen the whole punch line redone. I honestly don't think I can take credit for a joke when that was done. If I was sitting in a writers room pitching it and things were reworked, I guess I would. Or if I was being paid. I used to deal with this to an extent when I wrote for Newsbusters, only then it was whoever submitted the punchline first who got the check. Nobody got credit. to be fair, they pretty much used the jokes as written. Certainly you could tell there was no one on duty punching anything up. Anyway, my jokes on the TMI Minute! Straight from my editing software to you, this month's jokes from the TMI Hollywood Minute... |
